Sadly, the intermediate and advanced classes are not available in the 2019-2020 school year. Some students are choosing to continue their work in digital media as an Independent Study, while attending class with the Foundation Level 1-2 students.
What this means for students: they complete a proposal [see link above] for me that includes their project, a calendar of project management, equipment used, deadlines, last year’s classes and grades, parent/counselor signature. They are setting their intention for how they will spend their days in the class. They have the option (I have to fully verify this) of doing this pass/fail. They must indicate in their proposal whether they intend a grade or pass/fail for this process. The Independent Study is for one semester. It may continue, again, in the spring with the Foundations of Video class if there is room.
What this means for parents and counselors: Please, help them be successful with their work by reading their proposal. Does it seem a reasonable undertaking knowing their schedule, their ability to juggle multiple projects, their ability to be independent? Help them during the process manage time and resources. And, stay connected with me if things start to get ugly.
Eyes wide open: Students must be self-sufficient. I am not able to deliver three, unique curricula during one class period. The foundation-level students are the priority, so the I.S. students are responsible for their own study. They will have my guidance, of course, but they cannot sit around and wait for my direction or instruction.
